THE TAU AND 'THE SPIRITUALITY' FRANCISCAN

The last letter of the Hebrew is the fulfillment of the word revealed by Dio.Questa letter was called TAU or TAW (pronounced Tab in Hebrew).

Essa venne adoperata con valore simbolico sin dall'Antico Testamento; se ne parla già nel libro di Ezechiele:<< Il Signore disse a lui: Passa in mezzo alla città, attraverso Gerusalemme, è segna in fronte con un TAU gli uomini che gemono, deplorando tutte le abominazioni che si commettono in seno ad essa. E agli altri udii che disse : E voi seguitelo passando per la città e colpite, il vostro occhio non perdoni e non usate misericordia: uccidete, vecchi, giovani, fanciulle e fanciulli e donne, e menatene strage: ma di quelli che vedrete segnati col TAU non ne uccidete alcuno e incominciate dal mio santuario.>>(EZ.9,4). Con questo senso e valore se ne parla anche nell'Apocalisse : << E vidi un altro angelo che veniva su da levante, che aveva il sigillo del Dio vivente; e gridò a gran voce ai quattro angeli, cui era stato dato di danneggiar la terra e il mare, dicendo : << Non danneggiate la terra né il mare né le piante, fino a che non abbiamo marcato sulle loro fronti col sigillo i servi del nostro Dio >>. E udii il numero dei marcati, centoquarantaquattromila marcati da tutte le tribù dei figliuoli d'Israele:>> (Apoc.7.2,3,4)

<< La trattazione completa ed accurata di tutti gli elementi, che costituiscono la spiritualità del Beato Padre, richiederebbe un volume di parecchie centinaia di pagine. Mi limito a dare dei brevi cenni su alcuni di essi, rimandando il cortese lettore ai lavori specifici su ogni argomento.
1.Conformità a Cristo crocifisso
Questa conformità va intesa non soltanto in senso spirituale, ma anche fisica, perché è un dato storico che il Servo di Dio è il primo sacerdote stigmatizzato e colui che ha portato più a lungo (oltre 50 anni) i segni della Passione di Gesù. Paolo VI lo ha definito:<<Rappresentante stampato delle stigmate di nostro Signore.>>

<<The full and accurate of all the elements that constitute the spirituality of Blessed Father, would require a volume of several hundred pages. Let me give a brief outline on some of them, referring to the kind reader work on each specific topic.
1.Conformità to Christ crucified
This compliance must be understood not only in the spiritual sense, but also physical, because it is a historical fact that the Servant of God is the first stigmatized priest and the man who led longer (over 50 years) signs of the Passion of Jesus.
